Response Engineer, CMDC

What you'll do

• Monitor and investigate security alerts to identify ongoing attacks on infrastructure and applications.
• Apply mitigation steps using Cloudflare’s core security tools like Magic Transit and WAF.
• Review alerts to determine urgency and validity, maintaining incident tracking tickets accordingly.
• Communicate technical updates professionally with enterprise customers during active incidents.
• Adhere to strict SLAs for alert response times and operational communications.
• Maintain and update customer-specific runbooks and escalation matrices for seamless execution.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a SOC, technical support engineering, or network operations environment.
• Strong understanding of networking principles and internet protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and BGP.
• Experience analyzing network traffic data for anomaly detection and executing mitigation against L3/L4 or L7 attacks.
• Professional proficiency using the command line (Bash shell) with system administration skills across Linux environments.
• Proven customer-facing technical support experience with effective communication during high-pressure incidents.
• Hands-on experience with packet capture tools like tcpdump or Wireshark is preferred.
• Foundational scripting skills, preferably in Python, to automate operational workflows.
