We are seeking a PhD student with at least one year of research experience in human-AI interaction, decision science, metacognition, AI/LLM evaluation, or computational economics to join our interdisciplinary team focused on advancing the understanding and development of intelligent systems. In this role, you will design and conduct IRB-compliant human-subjects experiments, develop prompt engineering techniques for LLM agent architectures, and integrate quantitative behavioral data with qualitative interview analysis. You will work closely with a diverse group of researchers to build innovative solutions that address complex challenges in AI ethics and usability. Proficiency in Python along with statistical tools such as R, pandas, and scipy is essential, alongside familiarity with inference cost modeling and cloud compute pricing. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research published in top-tier venues like CHI, CSCW, FAccT, AAAI, and NeurIPS.

What you'll do
Design and conduct IRB-compliant human-subjects experiments for AI evaluation.
