What you'll do
- Develop, validate, test, and implement complex statistical models to monitor suspicious activity in customer accounts.
- Manage the lifecycle of existing models while supporting the development of new models for detecting illicit activity.
- Create and review comprehensive model documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations and internal risk standards.
- Conduct periodic performance assessments and perform tuning or calibration on active monitoring models.
- Communicate model performance, limitations, and findings to stakeholders across compliance, risk, and technology teams.
- Produce technical artifacts including development documents, performance reports, and business requirements for model integration.
- Provide clear summaries of complex model behaviors tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field and five or more years of relevant experience.
- MA/MS in a quantitative field and three or more years of related experience.
- PhD in a quantitative field and less than two years of related experience.
- Experience with internally developed or vendor-provided models for transaction monitoring or financial crime detection (preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of statistical modeling techniques and validation methodologies (preferred).
- Strong programming skills in SAS, Python, SQL, or similar (preferred).
- Understanding of AML regulations (preferred).
- Ability to communicate complex model behavior to non-technical stakeholders (preferred).
