Product Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Design tight tolerance components for prototype systems.
• Develop test infrastructure and characterize components and assembly processes.
• Build prototypes for design validation and drive failure analysis.
• Implement and integrate iPhones at contract manufacturers to enable product at scale.
• Perform functional dimensioning and tolerance stack-up analysis for mechanical drawings.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) techniques.
• Interpret metrology data and derive meaningful insights from FAI data.
• Coordinate with vendors in Asia and internal teams to yield successful parts and assemblies.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of mechanical design experience using a variety of fabrication processes.
• 3+ years of consumer electronics design experience working on complex products with large multidisciplinary teams.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals including heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and precision fabrication.
• Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques, mechanical drawing composition, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and statistical tolerance analysis techniques.
• Strong proficiency in Siemens NX for components, assemblies, and drawings (preferred).
• Experience with metrology, interpreting FAI data, and working with electrical engineers to layout custom PCBs/FPCs (preferred).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
