TL;DR · Principal Telemetry & Instrumentation Architect

Join our team as a Principal Telemetry & Instrumentation Architect, where you will lead the design and development of advanced test range infrastructure and instrumentation systems. This role involves defining architectural roadmaps, integrating cutting-edge sensors like telemetry (RF/Optical), radar, and high-speed cameras, and ensuring robust data acquisition pipelines for real-time and post-test analysis. You will also manage critical range infrastructure components such as fiber optic networks and RF distribution systems while providing technical leadership to junior engineers. The ideal candidate has over 15 years of experience in instrumentation systems architecture within the defense or aerospace industry, proficiency with tools like SysML and MATLAB/Simulink, and expertise in telemetry systems and data acquisition principles. Experience with missile test range instrumentation and cybersecurity best practices is preferred.

What you'll do

  • Lead architectural design and development of comprehensive instrumentation systems for complex test environments.
  • Integrate cutting-edge sensors, data acquisition systems, and telemetry solutions to ensure robust operation.
  • Develop long-term technological roadmaps and strategic upgrades for state-of-the-art range capabilities.
  • Design and implement data acquisition pipelines supporting real-time and post-test data needs in test ranges.
  • Ensure network connectivity, cybersecurity, and data security for all instrumentation systems across the range.
  • Provide expert technical support during testing, anomaly resolution, and post-test data analysis.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in instrumentation systems architecture and complex range infrastructure development.
  • Strong understanding of data acquisition (DAQ) principles, telemetry systems, RF systems, and sensor technologies.
  • Experience with system modeling tools and programming languages like Python, C++.
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, integrating, operating, and maintaining test range infrastructure for high-speed weapons systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Security Clearance (Secret or Top Secret preferred).
