As a Principal Software Engineer at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in Seattle, you will join the Infrastructure Planning and Capacity Management team as an individual contributor to design and develop scalable cloud services and distributed systems that power infrastructure planning, capacity forecasting, deployment readiness, sourcing operations, and operational decision-making. You will build cloud-native services, APIs, workflow engines, and automation platforms using Java, Python, Go, or similar languages, while also developing data ingestion, transformation, and analytics pipelines to enhance forecasting accuracy and operational visibility. Working closely with product managers, TPMs, infrastructure teams, supply chain organizations, and business stakeholders, you will contribute to system architecture reviews and drive operational excellence through monitoring, observability, reliability improvements, and automation.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop cloud-native services for OCI infrastructure planning and capacity management.
  • Build scalable backend services, APIs, and automation platforms to support critical operational processes.
  • Develop distributed systems capable of processing large-scale datasets related to infrastructure and operations.
  • Contribute to system architecture reviews and drive engineering best practices within the team.
  • Create data ingestion and analytics pipelines to enhance forecasting accuracy and operational visibility.
  • Identify and implement software solutions to simplify workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide production support as required by the organization.

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Go, C#, or similar languages
  • Experience designing and building cloud-native services and APIs
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and system design
  • Familiarity with modern development practices including CI/CD, automated testing, source control, and observability
  • Experience working with relational and/or distributed databases
  • Experience developing scalable backend services, workflow engines, and automation platforms
