Principal Software Engineer I, Serverless, Platform Control Plane

What you'll do

• Set the technical direction for major initiatives across the Serverless control plane from proposal to general availability.
• Design, build, and evolve distributed systems that orchestrate and manage Serverless projects across cloud providers.
• Lead multi-quarter projects with dependencies across teams such as Elasticsearch and Kibana to ensure successful delivery.
• Raise the operational bar by leading complex incident investigations and participating in an on-call rotation.
• Mentor engineers to level up collective technical judgment and set standards for software construction.
• Advise product management and senior stakeholders on technical trade-offs, feasibility, and roadmap direction.
• Identify and champion improvements to security, stability, and cost efficiency before they become problems.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of experience building software and setting technical direction for complex distributed systems running at production scale.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture, including designing systems that orchestrate other systems.
• Proficiency with Go and hands-on experience with at least one major cloud service provider like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms, responding to incidents, and improving reliability.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code.
• Ability to work autonomously and communicate clearly in a distributed team using asynchronous communication.
• Experience building for FedRAMP or other regulated, compliance-heavy environments (preferred).
• Practical knowledge of the Elastic Stack or experience with Kubernetes operators or Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (preferred).
