What you'll do

Establish and communicate technical strategy across multiple teams to translate long-term goals into incremental delivery plans.
Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from initial problem definition through architecture, implementation, and operation.
Influence technical decisions through design reviews, prototyping, mentoring, and hands-on engineering contributions.
Build and extend AI-enabled systems, including agents, evaluation frameworks, and workflow automation.
Determine when to use AI versus deterministic software based on safety, simplicity, and reliability requirements.
Establish practices for evaluating AI systems regarding quality, security, cost, latency, and human oversight.
Improve engineering effectiveness by creating reusable platforms, automated diagnostics, and optimized development workflows.
Partner with stakeholders to convert ambiguous business problems into clear technical strategies and measurable outcomes.

What we're looking for

This position may require authorization to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience (preferred).
10+ years of professional software engineering experience as a guideline (preferred).
Proficiency in at least one backend language (preferred).
Experience with LLM APIs, AI guardrails, and delivering AI-enabled systems beyond experimentation (preferred).
Familiarity with integration patterns, building secure APIs, and observability tooling (preferred).
Working familiarity with containerized/cloud environments and serverless computing platforms (preferred).
Experience with GitLab or other CI/CD tooling (preferred).
