Principal Quantum Engineer, Systems Physics & Performance

What you'll do

• Develop frameworks to diagnose and optimize multi-component quantum systems beyond single-device metrics.
• Design computational benchmarks to quantify and mitigate correlated-error phenomena in real-world problem instances.
• Translate insights from interacting qubit physics into practical corrective procedures for next-generation processors.
• Provide guidance on interpreting advanced materials and device measurements, including morphology and interfacial properties.
• Champion novel characterization approaches to illuminate failure modes or performance bottlenecks in quantum-device systems.
• Support exploratory research on future-generation readout and control schemes for scalable high-bandwidth readout infrastructure.

What we're looking for

• Doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of post-doctoral experience.
• Expertise in physics of interacting quantum systems, disorder phenomena, and complex device behavior.
• Experience designing and interpreting advanced experimental diagnostics like x-ray scattering and spectroscopy.
• Proven ability to drive scientific programs integrating theory, experiment, and hardware development.
• Internationally recognized contributions in condensed-matter physics or quantum materials/devices.
• Knowledge of cryogenic measurement techniques and superconducting/topological quantum platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor teams and foster cross-functional collaboration.
