Principal Data Architect

What you'll do

• Own the data reference architectures across ingestion, storage, transformation, semantic, and consumption layers for a multicloud environment.
• Define the data mesh operating model by establishing domain-owned data products and clear contracts.
• Identify and protect singular systems of record to ensure authoritative datasets are managed correctly.
• Design "golden paths" for pipelines and data products to standardize how teams build and deploy solutions.
• Embed automated governance, lineage, and quality checks into the pipeline as mandatory gates.
• Establish security controls and zero-trust patterns for regulated and sensitive data like PHI.
• Provide the underlying architecture for AI capabilities, including feature readiness and retrieval systems.
• Translate complex technical trade-offs into decision-oriented narratives for senior technology leaders.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of experience in technology with deep, hands-on data architecture expertise at scale.
• Expert-level knowledge of multivendor and multicloud data platform architectures including Snowflake, GCP/BigQuery, and AWS.
• Demonstrated ownership of enterprise data architectures and golden-path patterns for data products.
• Strong command of data governance, lineage, quality, and controls for regulated data such as PHI.
• Working knowledge of data mesh, domain ownership, and systems-of-record design.
• Proven ability to drive technical outcomes through influence and design authority as an individual contributor.
• Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
