TL;DR · Platform and Databricks DevOps Engineer

The Platform and Databricks DevOps Engineer joins a high-impact team to lead the design, automation, and reliable operation of Databricks Lakehouse environments. This role focuses on powering mission-critical analytics, AI, and data initiatives for defense, intelligence, and civil clients. Key responsibilities include managing account and workspace administration, overseeing identity and access management via SCIM, and governing Unity Catalog metastores. The engineer will own infrastructure as code deployments using Terraform and the Databricks Terraform Provider while designing automation for Delta Live Tables pipelines and workflows. Required technical skills include experience with Databricks administration, cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and scripting in Python or Bash. The position ensures secure, scalable, and cost-optimized platforms by enforcing FedRAMP and DoD standards through automated CI/CD integrations and monitoring.

What you'll do

  • Manage Databricks account and workspace administration including configuration, feature enablement, and account-level settings.
  • Oversee identity and access management by provisioning users, groups, and service principals via SCIM.
  • Implement and govern Unity Catalog metastores, schemas, and fine-grained access controls to ensure data security.
  • Administer compute resources such as cluster policies, instance pools, and serverless options to control costs.
  • Deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Design and maintain automation for notebooks, Delta Live Tables pipelines, and Databricks workflows.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and costs using audit logs, system tables, and billable usage dashboards.
  • Enforce security compliance by managing encryption, private networking, and alignment with FedRAMP and DoD standards.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Databricks administration.
  • Experience with cloud platform operations, data platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
  • Experience with Terraform or IaC tools, REST APIs, and monitoring and observability concepts.
  • Experience with scripting or automation in platforms, such as Python or Bash.
  • Experience with cloud using AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
  • Experience administering Databricks account console, workspace settings, Unity Catalog, and compute management (preferred).
  • Experience with identity federation, including SCIM provisioning and RBAC in cloud data platforms (preferred).
  • Experience developing enterprise cloud-native solutions involving Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, or Jenkins (preferred).
  • Experience with Azure (preferred).
  • Experience creating and improving continuous automation or deployment tools built on Kubernetes (preferred).
  • Master’s degree (preferred).
