As a Pega Architect, you will join the team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs within the Community Care product line to improve software technology for veterans' healthcare. You will translate customer needs into actionable plans by defining solution architecture, integration patterns, data flows, and nonfunctional requirements aligned with enterprise standards. Your daily responsibilities include evaluating design options, documenting technical tradeoffs, and guiding implementation through architecture reviews and technical decisions. You will establish practices for security, scalability, availability, observability, and maintainability across environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve dependencies. The role requires expertise in Pega, case-management platforms, workflows, and decision logic. Technical skills include experience with APIs, data models, cloud platforms, Jira, Confluence, Git, Azure, Databricks, Power Platform, and healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, X12, EDI, and Edifecs to ensure high-quality releases.
Translate customer software needs into plans defining solution architecture, integration patterns, and data flows.
Define nonfunctional requirements aligned with enterprise standards for Pega and other software solutions.
Evaluate design options and document technical tradeoffs to guide implementation through architecture reviews.
Create architectural documentation including diagrams, interface specifications, and technical standard guidelines.
Establish practices for security, scalability, availability, observability, and maintainability across all environments.
Resolve cross-system dependencies with stakeholders to support high-quality software releases.
Mentor teams and provide technical guidance to develop secure and reliable healthcare solutions.
What we're looking for
7+ years of experience in software architecture, solution architecture, or a technical architecture role.
Experience producing architecture decisions, diagrams, interface specifications, data flows, and nonfunctional requirements.
Experience evaluating design options, documenting technical tradeoffs, and guiding implementation through reviews and technical decisions.
Experience with secure integrations, APIs, data models, cloud or enterprise platforms, and SDLC governance.
Ability to establish and communicate architecture practices for security, scalability, availability, observability, maintainability, and upgrade readiness.
Experience designing or architecting Pega solutions, case-management platforms, workflows, integrations, data objects, rules, and decision logic (preferred).
Experience supporting federal health IT, healthcare interoperability, FHIR, X12, EDI, Edifecs, Azure, Databricks, or Power Platform (preferred).
