The NextStay Fellow, Tech Ops & Programs joins the engineering organization as a hands-on Technical Program Manager. In this role, you will lead the execution of technical programs spanning multiple engineering, product, and operations teams. You will transform high-level objectives into concrete delivery plans, managing scope, schedule, and quality trade-offs while monitoring progress through input and output metrics. Key responsibilities include identifying upstream and downstream risks, communicating project visions to stakeholders, and collaborating with engineers to surface technical gaps. You must demonstrate sound technical judgment and strong communication skills to hold contributors accountable to milestones. This position requires a background in Computer Science or a related technical field to solve complex technical problems and manage dependencies within a large-scale engineering environment.
Translate high-level direction into concrete, realistic project plans based on known constraints.
Break down work into trackable pieces and monitor progress using input and output metrics.
Lead project teams to meet deliverables and milestones while holding contributors accountable.
Identify technical gaps and risks early, developing mitigation options and driving them to resolution.
Communicate project vision, success criteria, and schedule changes clearly to stakeholders.
Manage trade-offs between scope, schedule, and quality to prevent scope creep.
Partner with engineers to apply sound technical principles and evaluate potential solutions.
Escalate decisions that carry real business risk to senior leadership for guidance.
What we're looking for
Must be an active-duty service member currently enrolled in the USSOCOM Warrior Care Program, Career Transition Internship, or a similar program.
Must be able to begin the fellowship by November 2026 and complete at least 120 days before military transition.
Must be within 180 days of military transition (separation, ETS, or retirement) at the time the fellowship starts.
Must provide written approval from the chain of command authorizing participation before final selection.
Typically requires 2 years of relevant experience.
Requires a BS or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Must be able to build realistic plans, track progress using metrics, and manage scope, schedule, and quality trade-offs.
Must possess the ability to identify risks, communicate project vision clearly, and work collaboratively with engineers using sound technical judgment.
