TL;DR · New Graduate Engineer, Mechanical (Starlink)

Join the Starlink team as a new graduate mechanical engineer and contribute to deploying thousands of satellites annually, serving over 10 million customers worldwide. You will solve complex structural, thermal, and electromechanical challenges on space-grade hardware within one of several specialized sub-teams such as mechanisms, space lasers, bus avionics, structural design, solar arrays, or battery packs. Daily tasks include collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to democratize internet access globally through innovative satellite technology. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience in mechanical systems and a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, along with proficiency in programming languages and PCB layout knowledge. This role demands expertise in CAD software, FEA analysis, and thermal management for cutting-edge space hardware.

What you'll do

  • Design and analyze complex mechanical systems for space-grade hardware.
  • Solve structural, thermal, and electromechanical problems on satellite components.
  • Collaborate with optical teams to design opto-mechanical assemblies for space lasers.
  • Partner with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical avionics modules into satellites.
  • Develop mass-efficient and runaway-resistant architectures for in-house battery packs.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 1+ years of professional experience in mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing.
  • Hands-on project/mechanical design experience with complex systems, preferably as a team lead.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (preferred).
  • Experience working with PCB designers and exposure to PCBA mechanical design.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally on satellite hardware development.
