As a Lead Compute System Architect at Microsoft’s AHSI team, you will drive technical pathfinding across server architectures, evaluating tradeoffs for x86, Arm, and RISC-V platforms. Your daily tasks include defining plans to bridge software gaps for emerging compute platforms, building infrastructure software that supports multiple instruction set architectures, and setting roadmap direction by aligning priorities with Microsoft’s long-term strategy. You will also coordinate development across various engineering teams to accelerate the adoption of new compute options, lead architecture bring-up activities in pre-silicon environments, and investigate platform issues from firmware through workload execution. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in computer architecture, server systems, and platform engineering, along with hands-on expertise in simulators, emulation platforms, and early hardware bring-up workflows. Knowledge of Windows operating system, cloud infrastructure software, VM platforms, and large-scale distributed systems is preferred, as well as a proven ability to influence technical strategy and drive execution through data-driven analysis.
