As a UX Engineer at Microsoft, you will join a forward-thinking team dedicated to designing and building intelligent systems that feel clear, trustworthy, and human. Working alongside designers, product partners, engineers, strategists, and writers in a people-centric environment, your day-to-day responsibilities include running applied science and machine learning experiments, translating concepts into working prototypes through code, and providing constructive feedback to cross-functional teams. You will leverage your expertise in coding languages such as JavaScript or Python, along with experience in prompt engineering and model fine-tuning for large language models. The role focuses on the Microsoft 365 Enterprise world, particularly around Copilot, where you’ll apply machine learning techniques to UX challenges like personalization and interaction optimization, contributing to a future where AI enhances product capabilities significantly.

What you'll do

  • Design and run applied science experiments to explore new ideas and validate hypotheses.
  • Translate complex concepts into interactive prototypes through coding.
  • Conduct research on cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
  • Provide constructive feedback and propose practical solutions to cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate insights, decisions, and results clearly to partners across the organization.
  • Contribute to publications and technical reports for knowledge sharing.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (CS, SE, Design) and 2+ years of product design experience.
  • Strong coding skills with mastery in at least one programming language.
  • Experience in prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, or domain adaptation techniques.
  • Ability to apply machine learning to UX challenges like personalization and interaction optimization.
  • Experience working with foundation models to generate UX-relevant insights for products.
  • Knowledge of human-computer interaction, behavioral psychology, and trust in intelligent systems.
  • Skills in developing user study plans and using state-of-the-art methods to understand human behavior.
