As a Senior Research Engineer on Microsoft AI’s Pre-Training team, you will contribute to developing one of the world's leading foundational models by designing advanced algorithms, model architectures, and data strategies for large-scale training. Your day-to-day responsibilities include implementing cutting-edge techniques, conducting rigorous experiments, and overseeing critical training runs using in-house distributed systems. This role requires expertise in languages such as Python, C++, or Java, along with a deep understanding of large-scale AI systems and a commitment to human-aligned superintelligence. You will work within MAIST, a startup-like team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of AI while ensuring it remains controllable and aligned with human values, tackling complex challenges at unprecedented scales.
Develop algorithms and model architectures using a rigorous data-driven approach.
Implement algorithmic solutions and conduct experiments on large-scale distributed systems.
Oversee flagship training runs on the in-house large-scale distributed stack.
Drive the development of data mixtures and scaling laws for large-scale training.
