As a Medical Robotics Embodied AI Advisor, you will serve as a strategic technical advisor to the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health. You will work with scientists and engineers to conceptualize, execute, and manage government-funded research programs aimed at improving health outcomes. Your daily responsibilities include performing technical reviews of performer progress, evaluating the soundness of research programs, and developing reports on the state-of-the-art for embodied surgical AI. You will also manage budgets, define technical milestones, and facilitate commercialization of new technologies. The role requires expertise in machine learning, robotics, imitation learning, medical robotics control systems, foundation models for physical AI, and world modeling. You must possess a Master’s degree in Engineering and demonstrate strong communication skills to advise senior decision-makers on the feasibility and impact of advanced surgical AI applications.
Provide technical expertise and strategic assessments of new technologies for ARPA-H decision-makers.
Analyze and develop reports on the state-of-the-art for embodied surgical AI and related fields.
Evaluate the conceptual and technical soundness of research programs in the health and AI space.
Define program goals, technical milestones, budgets, and performer expectations for scientific initiatives.
Conduct technical reviews of performer progress to ensure alignment with agency objectives.
Develop stakeholder management strategies and establish new business processes for clients.
Facilitate the commercialization of successfully developed technologies.
Manage incoming requirements and coordinate engagements across various offices and agencies.
What we're looking for
Master’s degree in Engineering.
Experience supporting and advising government leadership or federal research programs.
Knowledge of AI, machine learning, and robotics including imitation learning, medical robotics control systems, foundation models for physical AI, or world modeling.
Ability to manage budgets, technical milestones, and multidisciplinary research efforts across multi-site or multi-performer programs.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Experience with AI systems physically integrated into surgical robots or operating environments (preferred).
Experience in the health, medical, or biological sciences spaces (preferred).
Experience operating within a government environment and supporting senior federal leaders (preferred); Doctorate degree in Health or Biological Sciences (preferred).
