Matterport - Senior Machine Learning R&D Engineer

What you'll do

• Conduct cutting-edge research in machine learning and computer vision to develop novel algorithms for spatial understanding.
• Design and optimize ML systems for processing large-scale 3D datasets including point clouds, meshes, and images.
• Translate research prototypes into production-ready solutions by collaborating with engineering teams.
• Evaluate model performance and drive iterative enhancements to improve ML capabilities.
• Stay updated on ML advancements and identify opportunities to apply new techniques to Matterport's challenges.
• Contribute to the architectural design and strategic roadmap of Matterport’s ML systems and initiatives.

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience in machine learning research and development with a focus on computer vision and 3D data processing.
• Proficiency in PyTorch and strong programming skills in Python, including data manipulation libraries like NumPy and Pandas.
• Solid understanding of deep learning architectures (CNNs, Transformers) and optimization techniques for model evaluation.
• Ability to conduct independent research, propose novel solutions, and effectively implement them in production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience working on complex real-world datasets and large-scale 3D data processing systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences and presenting research findings.
