As a Senior Manager of Engineering on the Ovation Risk Platform team, you will lead a diverse group of engineers in developing foundational components for a high-speed, data-centric platform. Your day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects, analyzing and documenting architectures, creating transition plans, and acting as a technical product owner by defining detailed requirements. You will also manage the team’s performance reviews, training, and meetings while fostering an enthusiastic and motivated work environment. The role requires extensive experience in Java development, cloud technologies such as AWS, distributed messaging systems like Kafka, and database management across various types including NoSQL and relational databases. Additionally, proficiency with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines is essential for maintaining the platform’s robust architecture at scale.
Lead the development of solution architecture on the Ovation Risk Platform.
Analyze and maintain architectures developed within the team, creating strategies for transition plans.
Act as technical product owner by defining detailed business and design requirements.
Review architecture proposals with tech leads and senior business partners.
Manage a diverse team of engineers, driving their work and conducting performance reviews.
What we're looking for
At least 5 years of experience in building high-speed, data-centric solutions.
Proficient in Java and cloud technologies, preferably AWS foundational services.
Experience with distributed message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, and ActiveMQ.
Strong background in various database types including Relational, NoSQL, and Graph.
Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Helm.
Effective people management skills, including coaching and mentoring team members.
Ability to solve problems creatively and communicate technical concepts broadly.
