As the Building Automation Manager for OCI’s mission-critical data center facilities in Michigan, you will lead a team responsible for implementing, supporting, and continuously improving building automation systems. Your daily tasks include managing engineers and technical partners to ensure BMS, controls integration, OT network support, and alarm management are reliable and secure. You will work closely with facilities operations, design, commissioning, construction, IT, and cybersecurity teams to translate automation standards into executable programs and improve operational consistency. Key responsibilities involve overseeing the execution of complex automation initiatives, ensuring high-quality documentation, and managing vendors for sustained system supportability. Ideal candidates have 5-8 years of experience in building or industrial automation with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, along with strong technical knowledge of BMS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and OT network fundamentals across multi-vendor environments.
Lead implementation and support of building automation systems for mission-critical data centers.
Manage day-to-day execution of BMS, controls integration, OT network support, and alarm management.
Partner with design, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure reliable facility operations.
Oversee troubleshooting and escalation support for complex automation system issues.
Ensure documentation quality and configuration control across all automation systems.
Coach and develop technical staff in cybersecurity awareness and operational support practices.
What we're looking for
5-8 years of experience in building automation, industrial automation, controls engineering, OT systems, or mission-critical facility automation.
1-3 years of leadership experience managing engineers or technical programs in a controls, automation, or OT environment.
Strong working knowledge of BMS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and OT network fundamentals across multi-vendor environments.
Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, operational handoff, and post-occupancy support of automation systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity concepts and standards such as IEC 62443 or NIST 800-82.
Experience aligning engineering, operations, IT, cybersecurity, and vendors around common standards and delivery expectations.
