JOB TITLE: Machine Learning Engineer 4
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer 4 joins the AI Foundations team within the Search, Discovery & Content AI organization. This role focuses on building next-generation AI-powered retrieval, matching, ranking, and content understanding systems for multimodal content across various products. You will design, develop, and deploy models to understand text, images, and documents, while building representation learning systems using LLMs, vision-language models, and embedding models. Key responsibilities include training and optimizing models on large-scale datasets, developing scalable retrieval systems for agentic workflows, and building evaluation frameworks. Required technical skills include Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Hugging Face, Ray, and Spark. You will solve complex problems in information retrieval, metric learning, and multi-objective optimization to improve content discovery and relevance across enterprise and marketplace environments.

What we're looking for

Experience with retrieval, recommendation, ranking, search relevance, or semantic matching systems.
Working knowledge of representation learning, metric learning, transformer architectures, multi-objective optimization, and large-scale model training.
Experience working with LLMs, embedding models, vision-language models, or other multimodal foundation models.
Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in Python and experience with ML services and infrastructure.
Experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Hugging Face, Ray, Spark, or equivalent technologies.
Experience designing and analyzing offline and online evaluations, including A/B testing and relevance metrics.
MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Information Retrieval, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
