Leader, Software Engineering will join the Cloud Security Engineering team to lead engineers in designing, developing, testing, and deploying robust cloud-based software solutions for SaaS products. Working within the Control Plane organization, this role focuses on microservices related to cloud network experience, traffic optimization, and insights for Umbrella and Cisco Secure Access products. The successful candidate will manage multiple teams, provide technical vision, and drive development of scalable, maintainable applications while solving complex network-level problems. Key technologies include Python, Go, AWS, Azure, or GCP; container orchestration via AWS ECS/EKS; event-driven architectures using Kafka; and high-throughput data stores like MySQL and Redis. The role also requires expertise in CI/CD, DevOps, agentic systems, AI integration, and observability stacks such as Datadog, Splunk, and Prometheus to ensure high availability in regulated environments.
Lead engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver scalable, production-quality cloud-based software solutions.
Manage the development and operation of microservices for cloud network experience and traffic optimization.
Translate business and technical requirements into actionable project plans and delivery milestones.
Drive the team to solve complex network-level technical problems and ensure high availability.
Establish clear goals, measurable metrics, and OKRs to manage individual and team performance.
Provide a strong technical vision and oversee consistent delivery of software development objectives.
Act as a primary point of contact for customers to advocate for their needs and resolve issues.
Mentor and develop talent while fostering growth within the engineering organization.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or computer science.
At least 12 years of overall experience.
At least 2 years of experience in people management, including managing multiple teams.
Experience with container orchestration (AWS ECS/EKS), event-driven architectures (Kafka), and high-throughput data stores (MySQL/Redis).
Experience with Python and/or Go on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP (AWS preferred).
Experience with modern software development practices including CI/CD, DevOps, and building agentic systems using AI.
Experience with security platforms, zero trust, SSE/SASE, ZTNA, SWG, CASB, DLP, FWaaS, DNS security, browser isolation, or digital experience monitoring (preferred).
Experience with API Gateways, observability stacks (Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus), SRE practices, and high availability requirements (preferred).
