JOB TITLE: Lead Software Engineer - Java, AI, Spring Boot and Kafka
As a Lead Software Engineer within the Equipment & Asset Finance Technology team, you will serve as a technical lead for a next-generation platform supporting equipment leasing, asset valuation, and lifecycle management. You will execute creative software solutions, develop secure production code, and drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices. Your daily work involves leading a global feature team, mentoring engineers, and making architectural decisions to improve application stability and observability. You will utilize a technical stack including Java 21+, Spring Boot 3.x, Kafka, React 18+, TypeScript, Oracle SQL, and PostgreSQL. Key competencies include domain-driven design, RESTful APIs, Hibernate, and experience with cloud-native tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, and OpenTelemetry to solve complex problems in commercial and investment banking.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Review and debug code written by others to ensure stability and adherence to standards.
Identify and implement improvements for application stability, observability, and deployment reliability across all environments.
Utilize the full SDLC toolchain to enhance automation and improve the value realized by automated processes.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 8+ years of applied experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Advanced Java development experience including Java 21+, object-oriented analysis, concurrency, collections, streams, records, sealed classes, pattern matching, and virtual threads.
Advanced experience with Spring Boot 3.x / Spring Framework 6.x, Spring Security, Spring Data, microservices, domain-driven design, RESTful APIs, OpenAPI 3.x, and Kafka.
Hands-on full-stack and data experience using React 18+, TypeScript, Oracle SQL / PostgreSQL, and Hibernate / JPA.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
Advanced knowledge of Agile delivery, continuous integration and delivery, application resiliency, and security.
Experience with React hooks, context, state-management tools, component design systems, and Next.js 14+ (preferred).
Cloud-native development experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform or Pulumi (preferred).
