As a Lead Software Engineer - Data/Payments Technology within the Commercial & Investment Bank - Digital & Platform Services team, you will serve as a core technical contributor in an agile environment. You will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, reliable, and reusable enterprise data products while strengthening data engineering capabilities. Your daily responsibilities include providing hands-on technical leadership for solution design, code reviews, and production readiness. You will utilize the Databricks ecosystem, distributed data processing technologies, and enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. You must apply deep knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and data integration to support analytical, operational, reporting, and AI-driven use cases within a complex, highly regulated financial services environment.

What you'll do

Lead the design and development of scalable, reliable, and reusable enterprise data products.
Provide hands-on technical leadership for solution design, implementation, code reviews, and production readiness.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish and promote effective Data Engineering patterns, standards, and validation protocols across the team.
Design data solutions that support analytical, operational, reporting, and AI-driven use cases.
Drive data quality, reliability, observability, governance, performance, and scalability across all data products.
Mentor engineers to build strong Data Engineering capabilities and technical growth within the team.
Identify opportunities to simplify platforms, improve engineering productivity, and increase code reuse.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Minimum of 10+ years of software and/or data engineering experience building enterprise-scale solutions.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on responsible AI use.
Deep hands-on experience with Databricks and distributed data processing technologies.
Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, data integration, and data product principles.
Experience with cloud-native data architectures, real-time/AI/ML use cases, or financial services (preferred); relevant Databricks or cloud certifications (preferred).
