The Lead, Information Security Systems Engineering joins the systems engineering team to provide security architecture and requirements oversight for high-assurance defense systems. This role involves interpreting security controls from NIST SP 800-53 and CNSSI 1253 into functional requirements for software, networking, and hardware engineers. Key responsibilities include executing RMF lifecycle activities, developing documentation like SSPs and SARs, and validating Security Technical Implementation Guides. The position requires expertise in cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance, alongside technical knowledge of TCP/IP, boundary defense, and DevSecOps environments. Candidates must possess a DoW Secret Clearance and a DoD 8140/8570-compliant certification. The work focuses on integrating security into complex embedded and communications systems while ensuring compliance with FIPS 140-3 and NSA certification processes for mission-critical national security technology.
Interpret and apply security controls from NIST SP 800-53 and CNSSI 1253 into functional design requirements.
Support the implementation and validation of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and configuration baselines.
Execute RMF lifecycle activities including categorization, control selection, implementation, assessment, and continuous monitoring.
Develop, maintain, and review RMF documentation such as SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, and Security Plans.
Review high-level system designs to ensure security requirements are met across software, networking, and hardware.
Interface with internal stakeholders, Authorizing Officials, and external assessors to support authorization efforts.
Track and report compliance status, risks, and remediation activities to program leadership.
What we're looking for
Must have a minimum of a DoD Secret Clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 9 years of relevant experience, a graduate degree with 7 years, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Must possess one DoD 8140 / 8570-compliant certification or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Experience with the systems engineering lifecycle as it relates to security objectives (preferred).
Exposure to cryptographic systems, FIPS 140-3, or NSA certification processes (preferred).
Experience with high-assurance or classified systems (preferred).
Hands-on experience executing RMF within DoD environments (preferred).
