As an HPC Application Manager at the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP), you will join a dedicated team of system administrators and support specialists to manage the full lifecycle of scientific and engineering software, ensuring stability, performance, and availability in a large-scale Linux-based environment. Your daily responsibilities include installing and configuring complex software packages, resolving user issues via ServiceNow tickets, troubleshooting OS-level problems, validating application functionality through system changes, deploying patches for security and bug fixes, and adhering to formal SOPs and RFC processes. You will collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues, requiring strong problem-solving skills and adherence to detailed protocols. The role demands experience in Linux/UNIX environments, shell scripting, and familiarity with HPC technologies such as schedulers (PBS, SLURM), interconnects (InfiniBand), and architectures like Cray EX and GPU-enabled codes using CUDA or KOKKOS.

What you'll do
Install, configure, and maintain complex scientific and engineering software on Linux-based HPC systems.
Diagnose and resolve complex application failures, including OS-level issues like library dependencies and driver conflicts.
Test and validate application functionality through system changes such as maintenance, OS upgrades, and new deployments.
Deploy software patches and updates to address security vulnerabilities and fix bugs.
Ensure all software management tasks comply with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and formal Request for Change processes.
What we're looking for
Active SECRET clearance (US Citizenship required)
Active IAT-II certification
2+ years of experience managing software in a Linux/UNIX environment
Experience with shell scripting and troubleshooting software issues
Proficiency in providing user support via ticket-based systems
Familiarity with HPC technologies such as schedulers, interconnects, and architectures
Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing application-level issues
