As Head of Strategic Finance for Engineering, Product, and Design at Plaid, you will lead a lean finance team that provides critical financial insights to the company’s growth engine. Your primary responsibilities include building product-level revenue and gross margin forecasts, guiding capital allocation decisions, and ensuring performance visibility through robust tracking and reporting mechanisms. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and executive teams to optimize resource deployment and enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, you will oversee team-building efforts and provide strategic support for cross-functional initiatives, including crafting compelling narratives for board meetings. Ideal candidates have over 15 years of experience in finance roles within high-growth tech companies, with expertise in product P&L analysis, analytical rigor, and leadership development. Strong communication skills are essential, as is a background in fintech or financial services, though not mandatory.
Build product-level revenue and gross margin forecasts for near-term and long-term business performance.
Partner with CPO and CTO on capital deployment, including headcount planning and capacity modeling aligned with the product roadmap.
Own EPD performance tracking and reporting, ensuring focus on high-signal metrics and partnering with Data teams for data quality.
Provide strategic counsel and analytical support to cross-functional priorities, especially between Product and GTM teams.
Synthesize and present the Product narrative for quarterly Board meetings, including business performance and strategic progress.
What we're looking for
15+ years of finance experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance at a high-growth tech company.
Deep expertise in product P&L finance including revenue forecasting and gross margin analysis.
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams.
Strong analytical skills with the judgment to make timely business decisions.
Excellent executive presence and communication skills for senior stakeholders.
Experience partnering with engineering and product leaders preferred.
