What you'll do

  • Plan, execute, and improve enterprise video surveillance and AI-enabled analytics initiatives for diplomatic security.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on VMS architectures, camera technologies, and AI-based behavior or object detection.
  • Translate operational needs from field personnel into actionable processes and validated analytics outputs.
  • Design and refine standard operating procedures to integrate AI alerts into security operations center workflows.
  • Establish data retention, access control, and classification policies for video metadata in accordance with government guidance.
  • Act as the primary liaison between regional bureaus, leadership, and stakeholders regarding video and AI programs.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and hands-on sessions for guard forces and security officers on system usage.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • 9+ years of related experience in security operations, technologies, or surveillance systems.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience with technical security and surveillance programs specifically within the U.S. Department of State environment.
  • Significant field experience at U.S. embassies/consulates working with RSOs, SEOs, and post leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, or managing video surveillance systems including cameras, VMS, storage, and networking.
  • Prior service as a Security Engineering Officer (SEO) or similar Foreign Service Specialist position (preferred).
  • Experience with large-scale VMS platforms, AI/ML-driven video analytics, and professional certifications like PMP or PgMP (preferred).
