Frontend Engineer, Underwriting

What you'll do

• Build and improve the core Workbench experience for underwriters and internal teams.
• Maintain a fast, responsive, and reliable interface for data-heavy applications.
• Create clear and trustworthy user interfaces for AI-assisted underwriting workflows.
• Translate insights from direct interactions with underwriters into product improvements.
• Improve technical quality through code reviews, testing, and building reusable components.
• Manage complex application states including tables, filters, and synchronized workflows.
• Integrate frontend applications with REST APIs in collaboration with backend engineers.

What we're looking for

• Two or more years of professional software development experience with a degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building web-based user interfaces using modern TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs and collaborating with backend engineers.
• Proficiency in managing complex application state including tables, filters, saved views, and optimistic updates.
• Experience diagnosing frontend performance and reliability issues using tools like Chrome DevTools, Sentry, or Datadog.
• Experience with Git or similar source-control tools and agile software development practices.
• Experience building internal tools for power users (preferred).
• Experience designing/building REST APIs with Python, familiarity with SQL, or experience with Next.js and Material UI (preferred).
