The Financial Data Engineer joins the Workforce Solutions Finance team to design and develop frameworks for supporting data solutions at scale with minimal friction moving from prototype to production. This role involves owning financial data elements, curating an optimized environment for insights, and translating high-level business vision into scalable engineering deliverables within an Agile framework. The individual will orchestrate automated data workflows, perform rigorous software development activities including unit testing and code deployment, and research emerging technologies like ML, AI, and RPA to enhance the existing data strategy. Key technical requirements include proficiency in Python, SQL, BigQuery, Airflow, Cloud Composer, Spark, Jenkins, and Astronomer within a GCP environment. The role focuses on solving complex organizational problems by deconstructing them into actionable data components while ensuring ethical data usage and precise lineage tracking.
Design and implement financial data models within the GCP environment.
Orchestrate automated data workflows using Python, Airflow, Jenkins, and Astronomer to eliminate manual intervention.
Translate high-level business visions into scalable engineering deliverables within an Agile framework.
Execute software development activities including unit testing, code deployment, and peer code reviews.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies like ML, AI, and RPA to enhance the data strategy.
Partner with governance teams to ensure ethical data usage and maintain precise lineage tracking.
Collaborate with IT Centers of Excellence to refine ETL toolsets and improve system performance.
Triage, debug, and perform root cause analysis on product or system issues.
What we're looking for
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, or an equivalent quantitative field with a heavy emphasis on programming.
5+ years of experience building, loading, transforming, and analyzing data across various database platforms and data stores.
5+ years of experience working in GCP or a similar cloud environment.
5+ years of scripting and coding experience.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, BigQuery, Airflow, or Cloud Composer.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Spotfire.
