The Federal Cybersecurity Senior Advisor - Security Data Management (SDM) joins the Cybersecurity Engineering and Operations team to advance cybersecurity visibility, threat detection, and observability capabilities. This role involves implementing, operating, and improving logging, monitoring, and data pipeline solutions to provide actionable insights for security teams. The successful candidate will build and maintain security data pipelines using Cribl and Vector while managing infrastructure involving Docker, Kubernetes, Dell ECS, and PowerScale. Day-to-day tasks include configuring Splunk and Elastic Stack, developing dashboards, and creating automation scripts using Python, Bash, and PowerShell. The position addresses the technical challenge of providing high-quality, analytics-ready data to support incident response and forensic investigations while ensuring compliance with NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, and CIS frameworks. The role focuses on optimizing platform performance and advancing AI-enabled security operations through robust observability practices.
Implement, configure, and administer enterprise logging and monitoring platforms including Splunk, Elastic Stack, and Cribl.
Design and maintain security data pipelines to ensure reliable log ingestion, transformation, normalization, and enrichment.
Build and support scalable observability infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Dell storage systems.
Develop automation scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline data collection and monitoring workflows.
Optimize platform performance to support threat detection, incident response, and AI-enabled security operations.
Ensure compliance with security frameworks such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, and CIS for audit readiness.
Improve platform reliability by developing runbooks, monitoring service health, and implementing automated remediation solutions.
What we're looking for
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
10–12 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering with a focus on logging, monitoring, data management, and infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with Elastic Stack, Cribl, and Splunk Enterprise/Cloud.
Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
Experience with Dell ECS, PowerScale, and virtual machine environments.
Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Familiarity with NDR technologies, Microsoft Sentinel, Palo Alto Strata, or AI/ML-assisted security operations (preferred); industry certifications like CISSP or Splunk Certified are also preferred.
