As a SIEM Engineer at Target, you will join the Threat Management Engineering team as a mid-level engineer, contributing to end-to-end log ingestion into Google SecOps. Your daily tasks include collaborating with various security teams to ensure high-quality data feeds and integrations, troubleshooting production issues in log pipelines, and building operational tooling using Python and regular expressions. You will also enhance monitoring and alerting systems aligned with platform SLOs/SLAs, ensuring completeness and quality of telemetry data. The role requires proficiency in Python, regular expressions, and experience with system integration APIs, as well as a strong understanding of distributed systems and resilience patterns. This hands-on position involves rapid learning of the log ingestion platform’s architecture to deliver reliable improvements independently over time.

What you'll do
Learn and contribute to end-to-end log ingestion into Google SecOps from source onboarding through delivery.
Troubleshoot production issues across log pipelines and SIEM integrations as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Build and enhance ingestion integrations using Python and regular expressions for parsing, validation, and transformations.
Contribute to monitoring and alerting aligned with platform SLOs/SLAs to improve completeness and quality.
Partner with Security Operations teams to onboard feeds and support schema changes for telemetry improvement.
What we're looking for
1+ years of software development or platform engineering experience
Proficiency in Python and regular expressions for parsing and validation
Experience integrating systems using APIs, including authentication concepts
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in production environments
Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and resilience patterns
Willingness to participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rotation
Familiarity with ECS (Elastic Common Schema) is a plus
