We are seeking a skilled Edge Security Engineer to join our Product Security team at CoStar. This role involves leading CDN security strategy and operations across 50+ high-traffic web properties, including managing Akamai Kona WAF configurations, bot mitigation strategies, and scraping protections. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing edge traffic patterns for anomalies, supporting secure deployment of edge security controls, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure robust perimeter defenses against OWASP threats and DDoS attacks. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of experience in edge security or CDN management platforms like Akamai, hands-on WAF policy tuning skills, familiarity with API security best practices, and scripting proficiency in Python or JavaScript. Additionally, knowledge of threat intelligence sources and integration of edge security with cloud infrastructure is essential.
Lead CDN security strategy and operations, including Akamai Kona WAF policy design.
Manage bot mitigation and anti-scraping strategies across high-traffic web properties.
Analyze edge traffic patterns to detect anomalies and respond to security incidents.
Support secure deployment of edge security controls in cloud and CDN environments.
Tune WAF policies to minimize false positives while protecting against OWASP threats.
What we're looking for
4+ years of experience in edge security or web application security.
Hands-on experience with WAF policy tuning and bot management on major CDN platforms.
Familiarity with OWASP Top 10, API security best practices, and traffic analysis.
Ability to collaborate across multiple teams including Product, Security, DevOps, Legal, and development.
Experience with dashboards and log analysis tools for edge security monitoring.
Scripting proficiency in Python or similar languages for automation and reporting.
Understanding of how edge security integrates with origin infrastructure in public and private clouds.
