What you'll do

  • Architect and build control and data plane implementations for a highly available, multi-tenant machine learning platform.
  • Develop distributed compute engine solutions using Ray and Spark to accelerate diverse workloads while optimizing compute unit economics.
  • Engineer systemic improvements for operational excellence by automating keep-the-lights-on workflows.
  • Direct technical execution of project portfolios involving distributed microservices and large foundation models.
  • Elevate the Capital One Distinguished Engineering community by establishing expertise in given technologies and capabilities.
  • Mentor internal talent and recruit external talent to strengthen the tech talent pool at Capital One.

What we're looking for

  • At least 7 years of experience designing distributed systems and backend architecture
  • Experience with AWS compute primitives like EKS, EC2 UltraClusters, Graviton
  • Proficiency in Golang and Python programming languages
  • Expertise in distributed computing frameworks such as Spark, Dask, Ray, Flink
  • Strong background in building large-scale platforms and optimizing cost strategies
  • Ability to mentor internal talent and recruit external technical expertise
  • Experience with Kubernetes and serverless runtime environments like AWS Lambda
