As a Distinguished Software Engineer in Capital One’s Platform Engineering organization, you will work on AI-enabled tools to optimize developer workflows and enhance reliability. You’ll architect high-scale platform tools supporting 18–20 concurrent strategic initiatives, from social integrations to complex referral engines, for over 120M customers. Your responsibilities include engineering standardized CI/CD pipelines with deterministic code transformation, automating operational tasks, and collaborating across diverse technical teams. With expertise in cloud-native architectures, AI-driven CI/CD optimization, and SRE principles, you will champion engineering excellence, mentor internal talent, and recruit external experts to bolster the tech team’s capabilities.

What we're looking for
10+ years of hands-on experience developing and architecting solutions on AWS.
At least 7 years of experience designing distributed systems, backend architecture, and API platforms.
Deep practical knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and chaos engineering.
Experience applying AI or Machine Learning concepts to engineering challenges.
Relevant professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
Expertise in cloud-native architectures and deterministic code transformation for CI/CD optimization.
