Join the Site Engineering team as a Distinguished Software Engineer and Architect for Walmart’s eCommerce platforms, where you will lead technical architecture and cross-functional delivery for highly available, secure, performant, and extensible experiences. You’ll design and validate solutions, unblock engineering teams, and improve processes and observability to ensure reliability and compliance across Walmart U.S., International, and Sam’s Club markets. This role requires expertise in Lua scripting, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes, CI/CD, and security standards like PCI-DSS and GDPR. You will also work on search, personalization systems, and integrations with payment gateways and fulfillment vendors, ensuring that the platform scales globally while maintaining high performance and customer satisfaction.
Lead architecture and technical strategy for core eCommerce site platforms to ensure scalability and security.
Drive execution of large-scale initiatives by making critical architecture decisions across multiple teams.
Define and evangelize target state architectures, including migration approaches from legacy systems.
Establish engineering standards and best practices to maintain compliance and reliability.
Design observability patterns and operational playbooks for reliable measurement of site health and customer impact.
What we're looking for
At least 8 years of experience in software engineering or related field.
Proven technical leadership on high-scale digital commerce platforms.
Advanced proficiency in Lua scripting and edge processing for Akamai/Torbit.
Deep understanding of eCommerce architecture, including localization and regulatory compliance.
Cloud hands-on experience with AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD tools.
Expertise in observability, reliability engineering, and incident response management.
Strong security awareness relevant to commerce platforms (PCI-DSS, GDPR).
