As Director of Platform Engineering and Automation at Fiserv, you will lead the strategic development and execution of enterprise telemetry, observability, and automation capabilities for Merchant services, ensuring high availability, resiliency, and performance. Your daily responsibilities include partnering with application development teams, production support, SRE/operations, cyber security, and business stakeholders to standardize telemetry and improve operational insight, driving initiatives that enhance platform stability and client experience. You will work extensively with modern programming languages like Java or Python, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks in hybrid and cloud environments such as AWS and Azure, while also managing vendor partnerships for observability tools. This role demands strong technical expertise combined with excellent communication skills to translate business requirements into scalable platform capabilities and provide executive-level insights on operational health and improvement plans.
Execute enterprise telemetry and observability strategy across hybrid and cloud platforms.
Drive standardization of telemetry and instrumentation for improved visibility and resiliency.
Lead automation initiatives in CI/CD, environment provisioning, monitoring, and remediation.
Partner with application development, production support, SRE, cyber security, and business teams.
Establish best practices for monitoring, alerting, incident response, and automation to reduce MTTR.
Provide executive-level communication on platform health, risks, operational insights, and improvement plans.
What we're looking for
8+ years of experience in platform engineering or site reliability engineering.
Expertise in telemetry and observability concepts including metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and dashboards.
Experience operating in cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and automation frameworks.
Strong collaboration skills across development, operations, and business teams in large organizations.
Proficiency in modern programming or scripting languages like Java, Python, Go, C#.
Experience leading enterprise observability platforms and building self-service capabilities for development teams.
