JOB TITLE: Director, Data Engineering and Platform
The Director of Data Engineering and Platform leads a multi-disciplinary team of product managers, solution architects, data engineers, and database administrators to build a robust data foundation. This role involves defining and delivering enterprise database systems, cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, QA automation, and ML Ops solutions. You will manage strategic planning, roadmap definition, and 24x7 data operations to support critical business lines like sales strategy and logistics. Key responsibilities include optimizing cloud spending, managing third-party vendors, and mentoring future leaders. The position requires expertise in ETL, big data processing, and database performance optimization using technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and Snowflake or Databricks. You will solve complex business issues by providing a technical point of view to ensure scalable, real-time data availability for the organization.
Define and deliver data engineering solutions, enterprise database systems, and cloud platforms.
Lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, and managers to execute technical roadmaps.
Manage cloud spending and optimize costs for databases and analytics workloads through automation.
Ensure 24x7 operations and meet service level agreements for all data and reporting workloads.
Develop and implement standards for DevOps, ML Ops, CI/CD, and QA automation.
Partner with third-party vendors to facilitate data-sharing agreements and manage consulting partners.
Create development plans to recruit, retain, and mentor high-performing technical talent.
Present technology vision and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related discipline.
10+ years of experience in technology leadership.
7+ years of experience managing direct reports while architecting, building, and deploying data engineering solutions and platforms.
Extensive experience with data and analytics technologies, ETL, big data processing, reporting, database scaling, performance optimization, and CI/CD solutions.
3+ years of experience in cloud computing, migrating, and building new data solutions using AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, or Databricks.
5+ years of experience in Agile/Scrum ways of working and delivering high-quality end solutions to stakeholders.
Experience leading large teams of FTEs and contractors and running 24x7 data and analytics operations.
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
