The Demographic Data Scientist joins a human factors design team to analyze human populations using statistics, computer programming, and machine learning. Daily responsibilities include writing scripts to pre-process and verify data integrity, conducting data exploration, and performing mathematical modeling. You will create custom visualizations for decision makers and build statistical or machine learning models to understand human variation in populations. Required skills include proficiency in scripting languages like Python, R, or Matlab, along with deep knowledge of linear algebra, geometry, optimization, and inference techniques. The work focuses on identifying trends in multivariate datasets and applying population modeling, weighting, and simulation techniques like Monte Carlo methods.

Investigate new data sources to extend and improve analytical insights.
Conduct data exploration, QA/QC, statistical analyses, and mathematical modeling on diverse datasets.

Consult with cross-functional teams to identify data trends and build analysis tools.
What we're looking for
MS with 3+ years of experience or a PhD in an analytical field such as Quantitative Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Physics.
Deep knowledge of statistical analysis and modeling tools with a strong foundation in linear algebra, geometry, optimization, or inference techniques.
Strong programming skills in a scripting language like Python, R, or Matlab to model and visualize data.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, patience, and aesthetic sensibility.
Demonstrated experience working in teams and collaborating with peers to solicit input and accept feedback.
Experience making inferences from small-scale datasets (preferred).
Experience with population modeling, inference, weighting, and simulation techniques like Monte Carlo methods (preferred).
Experience with Bayesian methods, human anthropometric data, or generative AI tools (preferred).
