JOB TITLE: Cloud Operations Engineer
The Cloud Operations Engineer joins a large team supporting a government program to operate and optimize cloud platforms. You will work with software development teams to understand their architecture and develop onboarding paths for the client's platform. Your daily responsibilities include automating infrastructure, supporting mission-focused teams in deploying cloud-native solutions, and designing automation pipelines for rapid functionality delivery. You will use technologies including Kubernetes, Terraform/Terragrunt, Python, and CI/CD tools like GitLab. The role requires troubleshooting distributed systems, implementing monitoring and alerting solutions, and performing log analysis to investigate web application errors. You must possess experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as container technologies like Docker. This position solves the technical challenge of ensuring cloud environments run securely, reliably, and efficiently.
Operate and optimize cloud platforms to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient performance.
Automate infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, and Python.
Design and develop automation pipelines to drive rapid delivery using CI/CD tools like GitLab.
Create onboarding paths for software development teams to migrate to the client's platform.

What we're looking for
1+ years of experience operating cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Experience with scripting for automation using Python, bash, or PowerShell.
Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Ability to obtain AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified CloudOps, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert Certification within 60 days of hire.
Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II or IAT Level III Certification within 30 days of hire.
Experience with Linux or Windows Server (preferred).
Experience with network fundamentals (preferred).
Experience with automation tools such as GitLab and GitHub (preferred).
Knowledge of Generative AI best practices, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows (preferred).
Secret clearance (preferred).
Bachelor's degree in CS, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering (preferred).
