As a Principal-level Cloud Network Engineer within the Infrastructure Services team, you will manage and own a critical segment of a hyperscale cloud network. You will be responsible for modeling deployment scale across VPCs, subnets, routes, gateways, peering, and transit architectures while forecasting risks to ensure long-term reliability. Your daily work involves defining SLO frameworks, leading complex cross-cutting reliability initiatives, and establishing organization-wide standards for blast-radius reduction and failure-domain isolation. You will navigate the intersection of network engineering, distributed systems, and compute infrastructure to solve problems related to global scale and complexity. The role requires expertise in BGP, DNS, load balancing, VPCs, SDN, Kubernetes CNI, service mesh, and overlay networks. You will act as a technical authority, translating complex trade-offs into strategy for executive audiences while mentoring senior engineers on high-severity production issues.

What you'll do

Model deployment scale and complexity across the cloud network while forecasting and stress-testing against architectural limits.
Identify emerging complexity and scale risks 12-24 months ahead of impact to shape proactive roadmaps.
Define SLO frameworks and serve as the primary authority on network availability and reliability.
Lead complex, cross-cutting reliability initiatives and drive systemic architectural fixes based on incidents and postmortems.
Establish organization-wide standards for availability engineering, blast-radius reduction, and failure-domain isolation.
Represent the Cloud Network in infrastructure-wide initiatives to align competing priorities with senior leadership.
Communicate technical trade-offs and long-term strategies to executive audiences to influence company-level decisions.
Mentor senior engineers and serve as the escalation point for high-severity or high-ambiguity production problems.

What we're looking for

8+ years of experience in network engineering, including large-scale networks in cloud or hybrid environments.
Demonstrated experience owning production availability and driving incident response for business-critical infrastructure.
Strong hands-on knowledge of core networking (BGP, DNS, load balancing, VPCs, SDN) and cloud-native networking (Kubernetes CNI, service mesh).
Experience leading cross-functional or cross-team technical projects from design through execution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate risk and reliability trade-offs to engineering teams and senior leadership.
Experience operating at architect level with a track record of technical leadership beyond an immediate team (preferred).
Background spanning both network and compute infrastructure domains (preferred).
Experience building/tracking SLOs, error budgets, and driving org-wide reliability programs (preferred).
