TL;DR · Careers

The Staff Low Power Hardware Architect role at Qualcomm’s Multimedia Power team involves leading the analysis, budgeting, and optimization of power consumption for multimedia use cases across Snapdragon-powered devices. This position requires defining power targets, utilizing industry-standard tools like Synopsys PrimePower and Ansys Power Artist to estimate and optimize power consumption, validating these estimates with silicon measurements, and leveraging machine learning techniques for advanced modeling. The architect will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including system architects and design engineers to refine multimedia use cases and support core power optimization throughout the entire SoC execution process. Ideal candidates possess a BSEE or MSEE with extensive experience in low-power design techniques, knowledge of multimedia IPs such as camera systems and video codecs, and familiarity with hardware verification tools.

What you'll do

  • Define hardware core-level power targets for multimedia use cases.
  • Use industry-standard tools to estimate and optimize power consumption during the design cycle.
  • Validate power estimates by comparing them with actual silicon measurements on target platforms.
  • Develop advanced models using machine learning techniques to predict next-generation platform power consumption.
  • Provide ongoing support for multimedia core power optimization throughout all stages of the design process.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years or Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in low power design techniques, including setting targets and validating power consumption.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard power estimation and optimization tools like Synopsys PrimePower and Ansys Power Artist.
  • Solid understanding of synthesis and physical design processes for power management.
  • Expertise in multimedia IPs such as camera systems, video codecs, and computer vision technologies.
  • Knowledge of SoC architectures and system-level design principles.
