As an Azure Databricks Platform Engineer, you will join the team to implement and manage cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions supporting Government Services objectives. You will take ownership of development tasks within a scrum team, translating software requirements into technical tasks while managing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Azure Databricks environments from the ground up. Your daily work involves designing and implementing data pipelines for cleaning, transformation, and loading into a Data Lakehouse using Medallion Architecture practices. You will ensure database resiliency through geo-replication and disaster recovery while addressing security vulnerabilities. The role requires expertise in Python, PySpark, SQL, Spark Pools, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2, Azure Event Hubs, and Terraform. You will solve complex data engineering problems by managing infrastructure as code and ensuring operational excellence across various cloud-native platforms.
Translate software requirements into agile user stories and technical tasks for the scrum team.
Install, configure, and administer Azure Databricks environments across cloud-native and hybrid platforms.
Design and implement data pipelines using Azure Databricks for cleaning, transformation, and loading into a Data Lakehouse.
Apply Medallion Architecture practices and relational/dimensional data modeling to data projects.
Troubleshoot configuration and performance issues to ensure database resiliency and disaster recovery.
Manage platform security by addressing database vulnerabilities and ensuring operational excellence.
Create detailed documentation and knowledge-sharing materials for the team and leadership.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience working with Azure Databricks analytics database capabilities and other relational database technologies supported in Azure.
5+ years of experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2, Azure Data Explorer, Azure Event Hubs, Spark Pools, Python, PySpark, SQL, Azure Landing Zone, Azure Networking Services, and Microsoft EntraID.
5+ years of experience designing and implementing data pipelines with Azure Databricks, including data cleaning, transformation, Data Lakehouse loading, geo-redundancy, HA/failover, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
U.S. citizenship or current Green Card status held for at least 3 years.
Completion of 1+ large-scale cloud data migration using Databricks, Python, Spark, and SQL (preferred).
Experience supporting SQL Server environments across versions 2005–2022 (preferred).
4 Azure certifications, including Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Data Fundamentals, and Power BI Data Analyst Associate (preferred).
