As a Director of AI Platform/Engineering at BlackRock’s Aladdin AI Engineering organization, you will lead technical and strategic initiatives to shape the direction of Aladdin’s AI platform, focusing on large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI systems. Your daily responsibilities include setting architectural standards, overseeing scalable AI/ML services, and ensuring responsible AI practices while collaborating with senior engineering leaders, product managers, and data scientists. You will need extensive experience in Java and Python, cloud platforms like Azure or AWS, and hands-on expertise with LLM frameworks such as LangChain and Semantic Kernel. This role requires a deep understanding of MLOps, vector databases, and event-driven architectures to deliver scalable, reliable AI solutions for global investment management at BlackRock’s massive scale.
Set technical vision and architecture for Aladdin’s AI platform.
Lead design and evolution of scalable AI/ML platform services and APIs.
Ensure AI solutions are built with strong governance and responsible AI principles.
Own delivery outcomes for multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing short-term execution with long-term goals.
Mentor senior engineers and build a culture centered on technical excellence.
Represent Aladdin AI Engineering in cross-organizational initiatives and forums.
What we're looking for
Proven experience leading teams building AI-driven platforms and applications.
Strong hands-on familiarity with LLM frameworks like LangChain and Semantic Kernel.
Experience with Google Agent Development Kit (ADK) or comparable agent frameworks.
Deep understanding of agentic AI architectures including multi-agent coordination.
Solid understanding of MLOps practices, model lifecycle management, and observability.
Extensive experience designing and operating scalable APIs, microservices in production.
Proven track record of technical leadership owning platform architecture and delivery.
