What you'll do

Develop and pre-train frontier foundation models for multi-modal understanding and natural language processing.
Implement mid-training approaches to bridge general model capabilities with specific task performance.
Optimize foundation models specifically for Apple silicon and integrated OS experiences.
Solve complex reward modeling problems to prevent reward hacking in agentic settings.
Align models across creative tasks and precise, action-taking workflows.
Identify new research directions and product opportunities to influence the direction of Apple’s AI efforts.
Develop on-device intelligence solutions that maintain strong privacy protections.

What we're looking for

Demonstrated expertise in deep learning with a publication record in relevant conferences or a track record of applying techniques to products.
Proficiency in Python and at least one major deep learning toolkit such as JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Experience with web-scale information retrieval.
Experience developing human-like conversation agents.
Experience with multi-modal perception for existing products and future hardware platforms.
Experience with on-device intelligence and learning featuring strong privacy protections.
A PhD or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science or a related technical field.
