Aesthetics Science ML Research Engineer

What you'll do

• Research, implement, and evaluate novel computational imaging features and multimodal solutions for Apple products.
• Prototype novel algorithms and develop machine learning models for visual experiences.
• Train and evaluate ML and generative AI models for image generation and processing.
• Design custom data collection efforts to support model training and evaluation.
• Build evaluation frameworks for complex, subjective aesthetic metrics in photography.
• Translate results from user studies into technical features for the camera ecosystem.
• Develop responsible, intelligent systems that integrate artistic values with machine learning.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of experience in multimodal vision-language models, computational photography, image processing, or computer vision.
• Ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams and communicate effectively while reasoning through ambiguous problems.
• Excellent coding skills in Python and deep learning frameworks.
• Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Graphics, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience developing and training models for agentic workflows, tool calling, or personalized interactions (preferred).
• Experience building or running evaluation platforms for AI use cases (preferred).
• Proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, or Metal (preferred).
• Experience with content creation, media curation, photo/video editing, or visual storytelling (preferred).
