TL;DR · Wireless Software Engineer (Starlink)

Join the Starlink team as a Wireless Software Engineer and tackle cutting-edge challenges in firmware, embedded systems, and signal processing for custom hardware deployed across the world’s largest fleet of spacecraft. You will design, implement, test, and maintain physical and MAC layer software for the Starlink communications network while participating in the architectural development of next-generation hardware and signal processing algorithms. Key responsibilities include cross-layer integration with other teams, hardware bring-up, debugging, verification, and launch support. Ideal candidates possess strong knowledge of wireless communications, signal processing, and network protocols, along with experience in RF systems, digital signal processing techniques, and lab equipment such as RF spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes. Proficiency in C or C++ is essential for this role that demands expertise in broadband access technologies like Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, and satellite broadband.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain physical and MAC layer software for the Starlink wireless network.
  • Participate in architecting next-generation Starlink hardware and signal processing algorithms.
  • Debug, verify, and launch custom hardware for spacecraft communication systems.
  • Develop cutting-edge networking algorithms to connect thousands of satellites to millions of users.
  • Create infrastructure and tools for a highly reliable, software-defined global satellite network.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with C/C++.
  • Strong knowledge of wireless communications, signal processing, and network protocols.
  • Experience writing software for RF/mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems.
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing algorithms and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as RF spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
