We're seeking someone to join our team as a software engineer in FICFX. The Municipal Securities Division's Technology Team has an opening as we rebuild our entire trading tech stack for both flow and remarketing trading businesses. We are looking for a strong Java or Scala Developer with 8+ years of Fixed Income industry experience. The role will include a combination of long-term strategic development and shorter-term business focused development on this new platform. The main focus will be to deliver increased automation to the trading desks and expand electronic trading capabilities. The role would be expected to gain expertise in several components of this platform and take full ownership of projects from requirements gathering to roll-out. The successful candidate requires a strong technical background. The candidate will be expected to code, deliver software, and work closely with our clients on both sales and trading.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Lead the development of new ideas and/or policies in own area.
  • Analyze multiple sets of information to create summaries for various stakeholders.
  • Professional development experience: 8+ years
  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering- Strong Java or Scala coding skills
  • Desire to build modern, testable, and observable software. - Good knowledge of microservices architecture.
  • Good knowledge of SQL/Relational Databases

  • Experience in executing IT strategy, delivery and complex initiatives.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to technology and business leadership.
  • Advanced understanding of functional area and competent understanding of competitive environment.
  • Have good communication skills and be able to explain complex IT problems in simple, businesslike terminology for ease of user understanding.
  • Experience supporting distributed systems in a highly complex, high-urgency environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot / follow a methodical approach to problem resolution.-
  • Good problem-solving, result-focused, can-do attitude and strong focus to keep the business running and competitive.
  • Comfortable with direct interaction with the non-technical staff.
  • Highly motivated, analytical thinking individual, who can work in a demanding, multi-tasking environment.
  • Familiarity with Fixed Income concepts (including interest and bond calculations)
  • At least 8 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role,

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment.  However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
