As an AI Infrastructure Engineer at BlackRock, you will join the Aladdin Platform Engineering team to build and maintain cloud-native infrastructure that supports machine learning models and large language models across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing scalable and secure platforms for AI workloads, improving developer experience, enabling production deployment of ML models within enterprise governance standards, and implementing infrastructure-as-code practices. You will also contribute to observability solutions, collaborate with security teams on identity management and data protection, and participate in on-call rotations. What you'll do
Design and build AI-focused infrastructure platforms for model development, training, and deployment.
Engineer scalable cloud-native services for AI workloads across multiple cloud environments.
Improve developer experience and operational stability of AI systems with Data Science teams.
Enable secure production deployment of ML models and LLMs in compliance with enterprise standards.
Implement infrastructure-as-code practices to ensure repeatable platform provisioning and auditing.
Build observability solutions for AI platforms, ensuring performance monitoring and cost transparency.
Integrate identity, access controls, data protection into AI infrastructure working with Security partners.
What we're looking for
Strong experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems engineering roles.
Hands-on expertise with AWS and/or Azure, including managed ML services and security.
Understanding of ML platform operations, governance, monitoring/observability, and disaster recovery.
Experience supporting LLMs, generative AI platforms, or model serving infrastructure.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform) and strong programming skills.
Solid understanding of reliability, scalability, observability, and operational best practices.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
